My Perfect Croque Monsieur on Tiger Bloomer (I did my way)

Ingredients:

For the Béchamel Sauce

- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

- 1 cup whole milk

- 1 clove garlic, minced

- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

- Sea salt and cracked black pepper, to taste

- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (white or red, or a mix)

For the Sandwich

- 8 slices of Tiger Bloomer bread

- 4 slices honey roast ham

- 4 slices topside beef (or your choice of cooked beef)

- 400g of cheddar cheese (mix of white and red)

- Butter, for spreading on the bread

- Extra cheese for topping (optional)

Directions

1. Prepare the Béchamel Sauce

- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

- Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).

- Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to create a roux (it should be a light golden color).

- Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Continue to whisk until the sauce thickens (about 3-5 minutes).

- Stir in the chopped parsley, shredded cheddar cheese, and season with sea salt and cracked black pepper. Set aside.

2. Assemble the Sandwich

- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

- Lay out 4 slices of Tiger Bloomer bread on a clean surface.

- Spread a layer of Béchamel sauce on each slice.

- Layer two slices of honey roast ham and two slices of topside beef on top.

- Add some cheddar cheese on each sandwich, then top with an additional cheddar, and Béchamel sauce.

- Place the remaining slices of Tiger Bloomer bread on top of each sandwich to create a complete sandwich.

3. Cook the Sandwiches

- Butter the outer sides of each sandwich generously.

- In a skillet or frying pan, grill the sandwiches over medium heat until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. You can also use a panini press.

- If you want an extra cheesy finish, add some more shredded cheddar on top of the sandwiches and place them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

4. Serve

- Remove the sandwiches from the heat and let them cool for a minute.

- Cut them in half and serve hot with a side salad or French fries if desired.

Enjoy!

Your Croque Monsieur on Tiger Bloomer is ready to delight your taste buds. The combination of flavors from the creamy Béchamel, the savory ham and beef, and the two types of cheddar will surely make this an unforgettable sandwich! Enjoy your meal!
