Garlic & Cheddar Baguette, Macaroni & Cheese.

Garlic & Cheddar Baguette, Macaroni & Cheese.

So this one is a Classic, its the fastest Mac & Cheese ever, It's the perfect time saving cheat dish, and is done in minutes, it's not fancy cuisine, and let's be honest it doesn't look much, but it's a lovely snack,

Now technically you can use any Pasta, and before you start shouting at me, if you don't have Macaroni at home any pasta will do,

Total cost for the Macaroni, Cheddar, 10 Garlic Bread Slices £3.58 to make 4 Portions,

300g macaroni

30g butter

25g flour

500ml milk

1 tsp Dijon mustard (or to taste)

200g mature cheddar (or to taste), grated

Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper to taste

Parsley to Garnish,

Directions, Macaroni

Preheat the oven to 200°C

Cook the macaroni until it’s soft, add salt if required,

Directions, Cheese Sauce

Melt the butter in a pan on a low heat. When the butter is foaming, add the flour and stir until it’s mixed in. Then keep cooking for 2 minutes, stirring frequently,

gradually add the milk, stirring constantly. Make sure each bit of milk is incorporated before adding the next bit. If you do this slowly on a very low heat, you should end up with a perfectly smooth cheese sauce with no lumps and no need to whisk.

if it does go lumpy you can always use a whisk to beat out the lumps.

When all the milk is incorporated, add the mustard, salt and pepper, butter, so I don’t add Then add half the cheese, stir to combine and turn off.

When the pasta is done, drain it, retaining a little bit of the cooking water.

Tip the pasta and a couple of tablespoonfuls of the cooking water into the cheese sauce and stir.

Pour the macaroni cheese into a shallow ovenproof dish and sprinkle over the remaining cheese,

Bake in the oven for 10 minutes. Until the top is bubbling and golden brown, the bottom should still be cheesey and saucy and the macaroni should be perfectly cooked,

Sprinkle on some parmesan and Parsley,

Directions, Baguette

The Baguette are store bought sliced with Garlic Butter, top with Cheddar, and bake in the oven with the Macaroni,

Serve over you Garlic Bread just to make a mess and enjoy,
